The Endless Forest Nutcracker

WFQCommon Thread Contemporary Dance Company is the featured company in The Endless Forest Nutcracker, and is proud to present this heartwarming and creative rendition of the traditional holiday ballet in conjunction with Dance Project Saint Louis.  The Endless Forest Nutcracker is a unique production that sets the traditional story by E.T.A. Hoffman in a cabin in the mountains. Clara must travel from her auntie’s home to the Endless Forest to find her long-lost sister. In her travels, she will discover the love of family, the magic of the Forest, and the enchantment to be found when the next step on the path becomes the first step in a new world.

Choreography is by Jennifer Medina, Artistic Director of Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company; Deborah Fahnestock, Assistant Director of Dance Project Saint Louis; and Tyrone Brooks, former Principal Dancer at Dance Theater of Harlem.

The Endless Forest Nutcracker is based upon Tale of Tales’ interactive MMO/screensaver The Endless Forest, in which players become deer in a magical forest.  There are no rules, no language, just beauty, peace, and love.  In the spirit of collaborative art that Tale of Tales created in their Forest, we have asked choreographers and dancers from around the country to be part of ours.
